Morocco's FUS vs. Ivory Coast's ASEC Mimosas: A Thrilling Clash in CAF Champions League

The Moroccan football club, FUS de Rabat, the reigning champion of the Moroccan league for the 2025-2026 season, is set to face off against Ivory Coast's ASEC Mimosas in the second qualifying round of the CAF Champions League. This matchup comes on the heels of ASEC's victory on Sunday, where they secured their spot in the next round by defeating Togo's ASKO Kara 2-1 in the return leg of the first round held in Abidjan. The first leg had concluded in a goalless draw, making ASEC's victory crucial for their advancement.

ASEC's triumph was marked by a stellar performance from striker Sou, who netted both goals for his team in the 59th and 68th minutes. This was a remarkable comeback, as they had initially fallen behind to a goal from Yan Dombouani right before halftime. ASEC's ability to overturn this deficit not only showcased their resilience but also set the stage for an exciting encounter against FUS de Rabat in the decisive second round, which is pivotal for qualification into the group stage of the prestigious tournament.

The first leg of this highly anticipated clash will take place at FUS's home ground in Fes on either October 16, 17, or 18, 2026. The return leg is scheduled to occur in Abidjan between October 23 and 25, 2026. FUS de Rabat, which recently advanced past Burkina Faso's Rahimo with a commanding 4-1 victory in the first leg and a subsequent goalless draw in the return leg in Ouagadougou, is eager to make an impactful return to African competitions. This marks their first participation in the continent's tournaments since 2012 when they lifted the Confederation Cup and the Super Cup.

Meanwhile, another Moroccan club, RS Berkane, who received a bye from the first qualifying round, will face Sierra Leone's Star Sports Academy. The latter achieved a remarkable feat by advancing to the second round after a thrilling 0-0 draw followed by a 1-1 tie in Gambia. The return match is set to take place in Sierra Leone on October 16, 17, or 18, 2026, with the decisive leg happening at the Municipal Stadium in Berkane on October 23, 24, or 25 of the same month.
