Strengthening Military Cooperation: Morocco and Mauritania Join Forces
A significant military delegation from Morocco's esteemed Royal Air School, headquartered in Marrakech, embarked on a vital visit to the Military Air School in Atar, Mauritania, on October 20 and 21. This visit, led by Colonel Khalid Khabouzi, was officially acknowledged by the Mauritanian army through a recently issued statement. The primary aim of this engagement was to foster a deeper understanding of the operational roles and responsibilities of the Mauritanian institution, particularly in the training of pilot officers and aeronautical technician non-commissioned officers.
The Moroccan delegation's itinerary was meticulously crafted to include a detailed presentation on the school's missions and training programs, supplemented by an extensive tour of its facilities. This tour provided valuable insights into the school's capabilities, including its flight simulators, training management services, classrooms, and actual training aircraft. The exchange not only highlighted the operational aspects of the Mauritanian Military Air School but also served as a platform for dialogue concerning future collaboration between the two nations.
Both parties engaged in constructive discussions about enhancing bilateral military cooperation, particularly focusing on aeronautical training. This visit is part of a broader initiative aimed at sharing experiences and strengthening military ties between Morocco and Mauritania, especially in the fields of training and instruction. It follows a similar mission by a delegation from the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) which took place in September, and precedes the arrival in Nouakchott of another FAR delegation specializing in military medicine on October 20. The ongoing collaboration between Morocco and Mauritania also includes the sixth session of their joint military committee, which was held in Mauritania's capital earlier this year in April.
