Strengthening Morocco's Aviation Industry: Key Agreements Signed at Marrakech Air Show 2026

The inaugural day of the Marrakech Air Show 2026 marked a significant advancement for Morocco's aviation sector, highlighted by the signing of several crucial agreements among various national companies and institutions. Notably, a collaboration was established to enhance research and development efforts through the African Center of Excellence in Manufacturing. This partnership involves the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the National Defense Administration, the Office Chérifien des Phosphates, and Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, alongside major aerospace companies such as Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Safran, Airbus, and Cezar.

Additionally, a cooperation agreement was executed between the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Royal Air Maroc (RAM) to increase the percentage of locally manufactured products and components within the airline's supply chain. The Ministry also secured another agreement aimed at establishing a new industrial branch of Safran Oil Systems in Morocco, focusing on aircraft engine lubrication systems. This initiative is in partnership with the agency responsible for investment and the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development (AMDIE).

In a related development, an agreement was signed to advance next-generation drone countermeasures in Morocco, in collaboration with Harmattan AI. This initiative encompasses a range of activities including research, development, engineering, manufacturing, integration, and testing, with participation from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the National Defense Administration, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and the Ministry of Interior.

To further bolster Morocco's defense sovereignty, Abderrazzak Louidi, the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of National Defense Administration, oversaw the signing of a partnership declaration between the National Defense Administration and Harmattan AI aimed at developing a drone specifically tailored for Morocco's needs.

This series of agreements not only signifies Morocco's commitment to advancing its aviation industry but also highlights the strategic partnerships being forged to ensure national sovereignty and technological advancement in the defense sector.
