Adil Madi's Esteemed Role at the Youth Theatre Festival in Egypt

In an exciting development for the Moroccan arts scene, renowned director and playwright Adil Madi has been selected to serve on the jury for the 11th edition of the Sharm El Sheikh International Youth Theatre Festival, which will take place from November 1 to November 5 in Egypt. This prestigious festival will feature theatrical performances from six countries, alongside an electronic presentation from Romania, showcasing a variety of artistic expressions.

The announcement was made during a press conference held at the Cairo Opera House, where festival organizers unveiled the jury composition and program details for this year's event. The festival aims to bring together diverse theatrical experiences and provide a platform for young talents.

Adil Madi, who also manages the International Theatre and Cultures Festival in Casablanca, is recognized for his extensive background in directing, playwriting, and academic teaching. His participation in international theatre events and his rich professional experience make him a valuable asset to the jury. Madi has a longstanding association with the Performing Arts Foundation since 2005 and teaches theatre at Hassan II University. His credentials include previous roles on the Cultural and Artistic Project Support Committee in the theatre sector.

Joining Madi on the jury are notable figures such as Anna Vladimirona Sinkovits, the General Director of the Brest Academic Drama Theatre and director of the International White Vega Festival, as well as Greek director and artist Emmanouela Kontogiorgiou, and Omani director Adi Al-Shanfari, head of the Vision Theatre Group in Oman. The jury will be presided over by renowned artist Riad El-Khouli.

This year's festival features three main competition categories: major theatrical productions, monodrama, and street theatre, with 11 teams or productions from six countries participating, along with the electronic entry from Romania. This edition of the festival not only highlights the artistic prowess of youth but also commemorates the contributions of Egyptian actress Soheir El-Murshidy, whose name will be honored by dedicating this edition of the festival to her legacy in Egyptian theatre and drama. The honorary presidency of the event has been assigned to actress Elham Shahin.

The festival serves as a renewed gathering for youth theatrical experiences, bringing together various forms of expression on stage and in public spaces, with participation from artists and practitioners from diverse backgrounds.
