10-Year Prison Sentence for Armed Robbery in Marrakech
A Marrakech court has sentenced a 26-year-old man to a decade in prison for armed robbery. The ruling, made by the criminal chamber of the Court of Appeal in Marrakech, was issued on Wednesday evening after the defendant was found guilty of committing a robbery with a knife and possessing a weapon.
The incident that led to this conviction occurred at the end of May, when police in the Gueliz area apprehended the suspect in the act of stealing a handbag from a tourist in Marrakech. Following his arrest, the investigation revealed that he was linked to a series of similar thefts targeting both locals and tourists across various neighborhoods, particularly in Gueliz.
After completing the necessary investigative procedures, the accused was referred to the public prosecutor's office, where he was subsequently charged and brought before the criminal court. The trial concluded with the court handing down a ten-year prison sentence, reflecting the seriousness of his crimes and the impact on the community.
