Severe Sentencing for Money Transfer Agency Robbery
Last week, the Criminal Chamber of the Court of Appeal in Marrakesh sentenced the accused, identified as (M.B.), to a 10-year prison term, along with a civil compensation of 10,860 dirhams, following his involvement in a robbery that targeted a money transfer agency located in the residential complex of Dar Salam, within the jurisdiction of the Saada community on the outskirts of Marrakesh.
The incident took place on the evening of Tuesday, June 9, 2026, when the money transfer agency in Dar Salam was subjected to a robbery. According to the available information, the accused managed to steal approximately 20,000 dirhams before fleeing the scene. Upon receiving notification of the robbery, the Royal Gendarmerie forces from the Saada center quickly arrived at the location, led by the center's chief, and were supported by elements of the auxiliary forces who helped secure the area surrounding the agency and the crime scene. Additionally, a forensic police team from the Royal Gendarmerie was dispatched to conduct a thorough search and collect fingerprints and other forensic evidence, while a judicial investigation was simultaneously launched under the supervision of the relevant public prosecution.
Thanks to swift investigative efforts, authorities quickly identified the whereabouts of the suspect and apprehended him while he was attempting to board a passenger bus to leave the city. Remarkably, the stolen money from the robbery was found in his possession, intact.
