The highly anticipated 10KM International race, organized by WeCasablanca, is scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 6, 2027, in the vibrant city of Casablanca. The announcement was made during a press conference held by the organizers, who are keen to continue the momentum established since the event's inception in 2017. Managed by Casablanca Events & Animation, this race aims to enhance its appeal among both Moroccan and international runners, thereby solidifying its status as a premier sporting event.
During the conference, the organizers also highlighted the impressive participation statistics from the 2026 edition, which attracted 16,254 runners from 63 different nationalities, including nearly 1,000 international athletes. The General Director of Casablanca Events & Animation, Mohamed Jouahri, expressed his satisfaction with these results, emphasizing that the involvement of foreign runners not only elevates the prestige of the event but also serves as a unique opportunity to showcase the city to participants and international visitors throughout the race week.
Record Participation and Future Aspirations
From a competitive standpoint, the 2026 race saw Morocco's Hicham Ouladha clinch the men's title with an impressive finish time of 27 minutes and 59 seconds, outpacing fellow competitors Yassine El Allami and Ethiopia's Biniyam Melak. In the women's category, Ethiopia's Chane Fentaya Adane triumphed over Morocco's Fatima Zahra Birdaha. Mustapha Benslimane, the technical director of the race, noted the presence of athletes who have previously medaled at the Mediterranean Games and World Championships, highlighting the event's growing reputation in the global athletics community.
Looking ahead to 2027, the organizers aim to assemble an even more robust lineup of elite runners, enhancing the competitive spirit of the race. The 2026 edition also marked the establishment of three significant partnerships with other international events, including the Valencia Ibercaja 10KM and the international races in Dakhla and Dchira-Laâyoune.
