SGTM and EMB in Competition for Fes Sports Complex Renovation
On September 23, 2026, the General Company for Works of Morocco, known as SGTM, has entered into competition with EMB for the first phase of the renovation works at the Fes Sports Complex. This initiative is part of Morocco's preparations to host the 2030 World Cup. As of now, there has been no announcement regarding the awarding of the contract to either company. The estimated financial value for this phase stands at 2.816 billion dirhams. The scheduled works include dismantling, major construction, waterproofing, and metal structures, alongside cladding, suspended ceilings, carpentry, and painting tasks. The project is anticipated to take around 20 months to complete, with a deadline of September 22 set for the submission of proposals.
SGTM's pursuit of this contract aligns with the company's ongoing expansion of its project portfolio linked to major infrastructure developments, coinciding with Morocco's preparations to host the World Cup Finals in 2030. Financially, SGTM reported a consolidated revenue of 6.6 billion dirhams during the first half of 2026, reflecting a decrease of 7.2% compared to the reference period. However, the net result saw an increase of 7.3%, reaching 793 million dirhams. At the end of June, the company's order book amounted to 34.8 billion dirhams, a slight decrease from the 35.1 billion dirhams recorded at the end of 2025, reflecting a continued significant volume of projects within the company's portfolio.
