4L Trophy: Corsican Students Nearly Claim Podium Finish in Marrakech

Outstanding Performance by Corsican Students in the 4L Trophy

In an exhilarating display of resilience and teamwork, Jean-Michel Vergne-Ghionga and Matteo Caputo, two enterprising students from the University of Corsica, participated in the renowned 4L Trophy, a challenging off-road rally that spans 6,000 kilometers through rugged terrains. Setting off from Corte in Corsica, their journey took them through Biarritz and across Spain before culminating in Marrakech, where they achieved an impressive fourth place out of 850 teams. This remarkable feat underscores not only their driving skills but also their determination and spirit for adventure.

Adventure Begins with Unexpected Changes

The duo's adventure began under unexpected circumstances. Originally scheduled to depart on February 15, the pair had to adjust their plans due to an early ferry schedule necessitated by bad weather, leading them to embark on their journey two days sooner. This early departure proved advantageous, allowing the friends to acclimate to the rally's atmosphere. Along the route from Marseille to Biarritz, they took the opportunity to ensure their vintage Renault 4, adorned with the number 924, was in top condition, consulting with specialized mechanics to evaluate its readiness for the demanding course ahead. Having previously participated in two editions of the Trophy, their vehicle had proven reliability, which eased their concerns about potential mechanical failures during the race. As Jean-Michel expressed, "We felt technically confident, knowing the car had no major issues, which allowed us to approach the 6,000 kilometers with a positive mindset."
