Protests Across Morocco Commemorate Al-Aqsa Fire

In the coming days, several Moroccan cities are set to witness a series of protests condemning the ongoing Israeli genocidal actions in Palestine, as well as opposing the continuous normalization efforts with Israel, particularly in response to the visit of an Israeli minister to Marrakech. These protests aim to express solidarity with the Palestinian people and reaffirm Morocco's unwavering support for their cause.

The Moroccan Initiative for Support and Advocacy in Tangier has announced a protest scheduled for Saturday evening at the “Sour Al-Makazine” square, aimed at commemorating the 57th anniversary of the horrific arson of Al-Aqsa Mosque. The initiative emphasizes that this event serves not only as a remembrance of the tragedy but also as a reaffirmation of commitment to Jerusalem and the Palestinian struggle.

Resistance Against Normalization and Support for Palestine

Similarly, the Marrakech branch of the Moroccan Initiative for Support and Advocacy has organized a protest for Friday evening outside the Maroc Telecom office in Gueliz, explicitly opposing the visit of Israeli Minister of Communications, Miri Regev, whose hands are stained with the blood of Palestinians. The Marrakech branch has made it clear that the presence of Israelis is unwelcome in Morocco, reflecting the broader sentiment against normalization and support for Palestinian rights.

In addition, the National Action Group for Palestine has also declared its intention to hold public events on the 57th anniversary of the Zionist crime of burning Al-Aqsa Mosque on August 21, 1969. This includes a protest in front of the parliament, which is part of the ongoing Moroccan public movement supporting the Palestinian people in their fight against Israeli occupation. The group reminds the public that the atrocity of the Al-Aqsa fire was the catalyst for the establishment of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Rabat and the subsequent formation of the Al-Quds Committee, an immense responsibility borne by Morocco as a nation.

The group has scheduled a protest in front of the parliament building in Rabat for Friday evening, which will also serve as an occasion to denounce the ongoing genocide in Gaza, the mockery of the so-called "Peace Council," and the relentless normalization efforts despite the continuous Israeli crimes. They emphasize the need to oppose the infiltration of various national structures by direct and indirect Zionist tools, which goes against the popular will rejecting all normalization agreements.

Moreover, the National Action Group calls upon all Moroccan civil society organizations to organize a week of events under the banner "Resilience and Tsunami Against the Arson and Aggression... Until Liberation of the Homelands... and the Fall of Condemned Normalization" on the days of August 21, 22, and 23.
