Overview of Royal Air Maroc’s 737 Business Class Experience
Recently, I had the opportunity to fly Royal Air Maroc’s Boeing 737 business class on a short 45-minute flight from Malaga to Casablanca, and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by the overall experience. Historically, my interactions with North African airlines have not been the most favorable, often marked by a lack of quality and service. However, Royal Air Maroc stood out as a refreshing change, especially considering the comparative context of my previous flights with Air Algerie, which left much to be desired. In this review, I will highlight the key aspects of my journey, including the comfort of the seats, the quality of the food, and the level of service provided during the flight.
Comfortable Seating and Cabin Conditions
One of the most commendable features of Royal Air Maroc’s 737 business class is the presence of proper business class seats, which significantly enhances the travel experience. Unlike some airlines that simply offer economy seats with the middle seat blocked, Royal Air Maroc’s configuration ensures a true business class setting. Although the cabin showed signs of wear and tear—such as a malfunctioning toilet seat—the comfort provided by the seats was undeniable. It's worth noting that the inflight entertainment options were somewhat limited, with no Wi-Fi or streaming available; however, overhead monitors displayed cartoons, which added a touch of light-heartedness to the journey. Looking forward, it's exciting to learn that Royal Air Maroc plans to introduce Starlink Wi-Fi by early 2027, which should elevate the inflight experience even further.
As for the amenities, while the seating was quite comfortable, the lack of additional entertainment options was a slight disappointment. Nonetheless, the flight's short duration meant that passengers could manage without extensive entertainment, making the comfortable seating more than sufficient for the flight.
Quality Inflight Dining and Service
The culinary offerings aboard Royal Air Maroc’s Boeing 737 were another pleasant surprise. Despite the flight being under an hour, the quality and presentation of the food exceeded expectations. Passengers were treated to a delightful snack service that included burrata, prawns, fresh vegetables, a cheese platter, and a delectable dessert. This thoughtful approach to inflight dining showcased the airline's commitment to providing a quality experience, even in a short-haul setting. Additionally, the inclusion of pre-departure drinks is a notable feature that sets Royal Air Maroc apart from many European carriers that often skip this gesture.
While the service itself was somewhat mixed, with the flight attendant displaying a rather robotic demeanor, it remained efficient and courteous. The supervisor, on the other hand, was notably personable and added a touch of warmth to the overall service experience. Furthermore, Royal Air Maroc enhances the arrivals experience with a dedicated business class bus for passengers disembarking at remote stands, streamlining the process and providing added comfort.
In conclusion, my experience in Royal Air Maroc’s business class was unexpectedly delightful, characterized by comfortable seating, quality food, and decent service. It’s clear that the airline strives to deliver a superior experience compared to other regional competitors, making it a viable option for travelers within North Africa and beyond. I would certainly recommend considering Royal Air Maroc for your next journey, especially if you're flying on a short route.
