Abdelhafid Idrissi Bouzaidi Officially Selected as the Independence Party Candidate
In a significant political development, the Independence Party has officially confirmed Abdelhafid Idrissi Bouzaidi as its candidate for the upcoming legislative elections in the Tissa-Taounate constituency. This decision marks a strategic move for the party as it seeks to strengthen its position in a politically crucial region within the Taounate province. The announcement was made by Mohamed Zarouali from "Taounate Net," highlighting the importance of this candidacy amid the dynamic electoral landscape.
Abdelhafid Idrissi Bouzaidi, who serves as the Deputy Mayor of Taounate, was selected following a series of rapid developments and deliberations regarding the party's nomination over the past weeks. Initially, the party faced challenges in finalizing its candidate; notable figures such as Mohamed Soufan, the Mayor of the rural community of Zariz, declined to run, prompting the party to consider other options, including Tarik Lachekar, a member of the regional council of Fez-Meknes. However, Lachekar ultimately withdrew due to administrative issues related to his electoral registration.
This nomination signifies the end of a prolonged search for a suitable candidate to lead the party's list in Tissa-Taounate, thereby allowing the Independence Party to prepare for an effective electoral campaign and engage with voters. Bouzaidi is recognized for his active role in local political and communal affairs, having been elected in 2021 as the Deputy to the Mayor of Taounate representing the Independence Party during the municipal term following the elections held on September 8, 2021.
With this selection, the Independence Party aims to present a competitive list that can reclaim its influence within the Tissa-Taounate constituency, especially considering the intensifying competition among various political parties in anticipation of the upcoming legislative elections. The Tissa-Taounate constituency holds particular significance on the electoral map of the Taounate province due to its political weight and the array of competing forces. Thus, Bouzaidi's candidacy will undergo a real electoral test, particularly in light of the expected rivalry among several names and parties in the region.
As the Independence Party steps into this new phase with a clearly chosen candidate, the forthcoming electoral campaign will reveal Bouzaidi's ability to transform this nomination into tangible electoral support, thereby strengthening the position of the Independence Party in Tissa-Taounate.
Tarik Lachekar expressed his disappointment in a social media post, stating, "While I had high hopes of participating in the upcoming legislative elections, I regret to inform you that I am unable to run due to my status on the electoral rolls. After being transferred from Tissa to the city of Fez, my name was not registered on the electoral lists in Fez, which disqualified me from meeting the legal requirement to stand for election. I say this today with clarity and responsibility: a person may be prevented from running, but they cannot be prevented from serving the people and fulfilling their commitments. I express my sincere gratitude to all the residents of Tissa-Taounate, and to everyone who supported me and placed their trust in me. Your trust has been an honor and a responsibility, and it will always be a badge of honor for me.
Today, I wholeheartedly and responsibly call upon all who have trusted and supported me to rally behind my brother Abdelhafid Idrissi Bouzaidi, the Independence Party candidate, as I know him to be serious and committed, and I believe in his capacity to shoulder responsibilities and advocate for the issues of the community and serve the public good. I declare clearly: I will stand by him and continue to work diligently and responsibly alongside him because the real battle is not one of individuals, but a struggle for the dignity of citizens, regional development, and amplifying the voices of our residents. Your trust has never been linked to a candidacy paper, nor will it end with the conclusion of an electoral process. Our relationship is greater than that; what unites us is belonging, loyalty, responsibility, and serving the public interest.
Tissa-Taounate deserves advocates who genuinely defend it and prioritize the interests of its residents above all else. From a standpoint of responsibility, I urge you to unite our ranks, collaborate our efforts, and place your trust in those we see capable of carrying the mandate and defending your interests. Thank you to everyone who believed in me, supported me, and stood by my side. We may be unable to run, but we will not fail in our commitments. Circumstances may change, but our conviction in serving the nation and its people remains steadfast. God is our guide and support.
