African Development Bank Supports Morocco’s Battery Manufacturing Initiative
The African Development Bank (AfDB) has granted a substantial loan of €100 million to Gotion Power Morocco, aimed at financing the development of an integrated lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery gigafactory. This ambitious project is set to take place in the free trade zone of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, which is strategically designed to enhance the region's manufacturing capabilities. The factory will not only focus on producing battery cells but will also encompass the entire value chain, from cathode materials to the final product.
This initiative is particularly noteworthy as it aligns with global trends towards sustainable energy solutions.
