Agadir Port Enhancements: ANP Secures Third Access Point

Strategic Developments at Agadir Port

The Agadir Port is on the brink of major logistical advancements with the construction of a third access point, facilitated by the National Ports Agency (ANP). This initiative is designed to enhance the operational efficiency of the port by linking the northeastern bypass section, currently under construction, which stretches five kilometers from the Abaraz roundabout in Hay Mohammadi to the port’s perimeter. The total investment for this infrastructural upgrade is a substantial 171.7 million dirhams. However, establishing a new artery is just one aspect; managing the anticipated increase in heavy vehicle traffic is crucial. To address this, the ANP has initiated a comprehensive project aimed at optimizing logistics flows within the port.

Investment and Security Measures

In a bid to bolster security and streamline operations, the ANP has earmarked 27.68 million dirhams for the development of scanning areas and the adjacent zones of the new access point. This project encompasses a broad range of activities, including earthworks, road construction, stormwater drainage systems, potable water networks, civil engineering for electrical networks, public lighting, and telecommunications, along with essential security equipment such as mixed fencing and standardized guard posts. Additionally, to ensure robust security measures, 16.22 million dirhams have been allocated for a durable perimeter fence designed to withstand marine air corrosion and intrusion attempts. A watchtower equipped with an isolated cabin will further enhance surveillance capabilities. These developments are part of a broader strategy that includes architectural studies for superstructures and updates to the internal circulation scheme within the port.

Moreover, the completion of the northeastern bypass, which will ultimately connect Agadir Port to Al Massira Airport, is steadily progressing. This five-kilometer section represents a significant investment, and the construction of a new underpass at Abaraz, budgeted at 88.84 million dirhams, is also underway, with a completion timeline set for 14 months. Upon finalization, this extensive 29-kilometer bypass will provide a direct link between the airport and the port, with the third access point serving as a pivotal component of this logistical framework.
