Agadir Welcomes the 17th Issni N’Ourgh International Amazigh Film Festival
The vibrant city of Agadir is gearing up to host the 17th edition of the Issni N’Ourgh International Amazigh Film Festival (FINIFA) from October 1 to October 5, 2026. This annual festival is dedicated to showcasing the rich cinematic creativity of the Amazigh people and highlights the diversity of contemporary artistic expressions within this cultural context.
A significant highlight of this year’s festival is the competition for the National Amazigh Culture Award in the category of "Amazigh Film." This prestigious award, presented by the Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture (IRCAM), will see a jury composed of distinguished professionals from the film industry, audiovisual sector, research fields, and the Amazigh cultural community.
Six films have been selected to compete for this award: "Goundafa – The Cursed Song" by Ali Benjelloun, "La Ruse" by Saad Dine Bahi, "L’Élève du village" by Yassine Ait Fkir, "Tawenza" by Rachid El Moukadem, "Fading Candle" by Ismail Ait Lahcen, and "Sin Igharassen" by Yassine Iguenfer. Each of these films reflects the artistic plurality and narrative sensibilities shaping the Amazigh cinematic landscape today.
Through this diverse selection, the festival aims to promote the varied artistic approaches and stories that characterize Amazigh cinema. Furthermore, FINIFA is committed to supporting the new generation of filmmakers, reinforcing cinema as a vital medium for the promotion and preservation of the Amazigh language, culture, and memory.
This 17th edition is organized in partnership with the Souss-Massa Region, the Agadir Municipal Council, and IRCAM, ensuring a collaborative effort to enhance cultural expression in the region.
