The Agency for the House of Money of Al-Quds, which operates under the auspices of the Jerusalem Committee chaired by King Mohammed VI, commenced a significant initiative on Wednesday by distributing over 3,000 school bags complete with stationery to students in Jerusalem and its surrounding areas, particularly targeting those in need. This initiative comes just before the start of the 2026-2027 academic year and is part of a broader socio-economic program in the city, as well as an integrated plan by the agency to support education from 2027 to 2030. The funding for this initiative is provided by the municipality of Fez and the Moroccan Association for the Support of Reconstruction in Palestine.
The campaign began in the village of Nabi Samuel and subsequently expanded to include the town of Silwan and its educational and charitable institutions. Other areas covered in this initiative include Al-Ram, Jaba, Bab al-Amud, the Old City, Al-Mazra'a, Al-Tur, Bab al-Sahira, Beit Hanina, and the refugee camps of Shu'fat and Qalandiya, as well as Al-Jadira, Bir Nabala, and Al-Eizariya. The program specifically aims to assist students in upper elementary and secondary stages from low-income families, orphans, and those with special needs. Each school bag contains essential school supplies such as notebooks, pens, and drawing materials.
Numerous local residents and officials have expressed their gratitude to King Mohammed VI and Morocco for this generous support. Furthermore, the agency highlighted that it had previously announced its integrated program for the period of 2027-2030 on July 15, 2026, in Ramallah, which includes initiatives to improve the school environment, expand scholarships, support student projects, and maintain Palestinian identity.
