Over 3,000 School Bags Distributed to Needy Students in Jerusalem
The Bayt Mal al-Quds Agency, under the auspices of the Jerusalem Committee chaired by King Mohammed VI, launched an initiative on August 27, 2026, to distribute more than 3,000 complete school bags and stationery supplies to students in Jerusalem and its suburbs who belong to underprivileged backgrounds. This distribution comes just before the commencement of the 2026-2027 academic year and is part of the agency's economic and social reintegration program for the city, which is integrated into a broader educational support initiative for the period from 2027 to 2030. Funding for this initiative was provided by the Fes municipality and the Moroccan Association for Supporting Reconstruction in Palestine.
The campaign kicked off in the village of Nabi Samuel and subsequently extended to the town of Silwan and its educational and charitable institutions, as well as areas including Al-Ram, Jaba, Bab al-Amud, the Old City, Al-Mazira, Al-Tur, Bab al-Sahira, Beit Hanina, and the refugee camps of Shuafat and Qalandiya, along with Al-Jadira, Bir Nabala, and Al-Ayzariyya. The initiative specifically targets students in the upper primary and secondary levels from families facing financial hardships, orphans, and those with special needs. Each school bag contains essential school supplies such as notebooks, pens, and art materials.
Local community members and leaders expressed their gratitude to King Mohammed VI and Morocco for this generous support. The agency noted that it had previously announced the framework of its integrated program for the period 2027-2030 in Ramallah on July 15, 2026, which includes improving the school environment, expanding scholarship opportunities, supporting emerging student projects, and preserving Palestinian identity.
