Algerian Authorities Facilitate Return of Migration Candidates to Morocco

In a significant move reflecting ongoing migration dynamics between Algeria and Morocco, Algerian authorities have formally handed over a group of 49 Moroccan nationals, including two women and two minors, to their Moroccan counterparts. This transfer occurred on Wednesday at the Oujda–Maghnia border post, as reported by the Moroccan Association for Assistance to Vulnerable Migrants (AMSV). This operation marks the second such instance in August, following an earlier transfer of ten Moroccan citizens on August 12, 2026, under similar circumstances.

The AMSV has indicated that it remains actively involved in monitoring various cases concerning Moroccan individuals seeking to emigrate. This includes providing assistance for those who are detained, missing, or deceased. The organization consistently receives requests for intervention related to these cases. According to the AMSV, these petitions often involve the oversight of legal proceedings, the establishment of the identities of the individuals concerned, and the provision of necessary documentation to verify their identities and familial connections.

Moreover, the AMSV has expressed deep concern regarding the plight of several Moroccans who are reportedly held or detained in Libya, affirming its commitment to continue following up on their cases closely. This highlights the broader issues surrounding migration in the region, where individuals often face perilous journeys and complex legal challenges.
