Transavia's Controversial Denial of Boarding for Algerian Nationals

An incident at Orly Airport has caused quite a stir, as an Algerian woman traveling to Morocco was denied boarding by the airline Transavia. This situation reflects the recent regulations imposed by Morocco, which has barred entry to non-resident Algerians since September 16, 2026. The airline has been instructed to prevent Algerian nationals from boarding flights to Morocco unless they possess a valid residency card for the country.

The woman, who had planned to travel with her daughter to Marrakech on September 19, was left devastated after being told she could not board the flight despite having all necessary documentation, including a valid Algerian passport and a ten-year French residency permit. Initially, she passed through border control without any issues, only to be informed at the boarding gate that she was not permitted to travel.

Frustration Over Lack of Communication and Support

Following her denial of boarding, the woman expressed her frustration over the lack of communication regarding the new travel restrictions. She had spent a year saving 1,700 euros for this trip, intending to celebrate her daughter's birthday. After the ordeal, she sought a refund from Transavia, but the airline provided her with a proof of non-boarding instead of the necessary documentation that would justify her situation and allow for a refund.

"Without the correct documentation, I cannot receive my refund. I have sent over five emails to them without any response," she lamented. Despite her insistence that she had complied with all requirements, Transavia refused to acknowledge their responsibility in the matter, leading to further disappointment. The woman claims that she had contacted various authorities, including the Moroccan and French border police, the consulate, and the Moroccan embassy, all of whom assured her that there were no official alerts or communications regarding the new restrictions prior to her departure.

In her heart-wrenching testimony, the mother emphasized the emotional toll of the situation, highlighting her struggles as a parent who sacrificed so much for her child's happiness. She remains resolute, stating that the airline should take accountability for the lack of information provided to travelers. "I am not responsible for this situation; I had all the required documents and was not informed of any changes," she asserted.
