Algeria's Futsal Squad Gears Up for ANAF 2026
The Algerian futsal team has successfully completed its training camp in Algiers in preparation for the final phase of the Africa Futsal Cup of Nations (ANAF 2026), scheduled to take place from October 12 to 21, as announced by the Algerian Football Federation (FAF). On Friday, the team held its final training session at the Mohamed Boudiaf Olympic Complex, with all 14 players selected by head coach Noureddine Benamrouche participating in this crucial session.
This marks a significant achievement for Algeria, as the national team qualified for the final phase of the ANAF for the first time in its history, having eliminated Guinea in a dominant double-header: a 4-0 victory in Conakry on February 4, followed by a remarkable 7-1 win in Oran on February 8.
On Saturday, October 10, 2026, the team arrived in Rabat in anticipation of their participation in the ANAF 2026. Upon arrival, the players immediately engaged in their first training session at the Ibn Yacine Hall at 3:30 PM local time (4:30 PM Algerian time), with 13 players present, as Walid Betterki was sidelined due to a minor injury.
Following their training, the Algerian delegation returned to their accommodation to attend a coordination meeting organized by the African Football Confederation (CAF), which included players and various staff members. This meeting was followed by an official team photo session.
The national team, under the guidance of coach Noureddine Benamrouche, will commence their competition on Monday, October 12, facing the host nation. The match is set to kick off at 9:00 PM Algerian time (8:00 PM local time). As part of Group A, Algeria's next matches will be against Libya on Wednesday, October 14, at 5:00 PM, and Zambia on Friday, October 16, at 8:00 PM.
