Ali Benjelloun, who previously held the position of Vice President until his recent election, has emerged as the sole candidate for the presidency, succeeding Mohamed Bouzouba, who resigned in mid-September for personal reasons. Since then, Benjelloun has been leading the association on an interim basis.
The general assembly was marked by the ratification of the minutes from the previous meeting, as well as discussions regarding the literary and financial reports for the sports season 2025-2026, alongside the reading of the auditor's report.
The financial accounts of the association revealed expenses amounting to 21.13 million dirhams, compared to revenues of 21.08 million dirhams, resulting in a deficit of 58,327 dirhams for the past financial year. These financial accounts received approval from the accounting expert, leading to the discharge of the outgoing management board and the election of the new team responsible for managing the club's affairs.
During this occasion, the newly elected president expressed his commitment to continuing the development project initiated over the past two years. His focus will be on solidifying existing achievements, enhancing administrative and technical structures, and ensuring the club's sustainability.
Benjelloun, who has described himself as a loyal supporter of Wydad Fassi and has been associated with the club since childhood, stated that his new role aligns with a vision aimed at establishing the club as a sustainable entity that preserves its history and identity while simultaneously catering to its sporting ambitions.
The program adopted by the new president places special emphasis on youth training, valuing local talents, and strengthening economic partnerships, particularly with stakeholders in the regional economic fabric, with the aim of diversifying the association’s financial resources.
Furthermore, Benjelloun stressed the importance of enhancing coordination between the Wydad Fassi Sports Association and the club's sports company, asserting that adopting participatory and coordinated governance is a fundamental lever for ensuring the club's stability and meeting the aspirations of its fans.
On his part, Mohamed Bouzouba, who has been appointed as the head of the Council of Elders, affirmed that his departure from the presidency does not signify his withdrawal from the club. He clarified that he will continue to support the new management team as the primary investor in the sports company.
Bouzouba urged members to maintain internal cohesion and support ongoing projects, emphasizing the necessity of preserving the administrative and sporting achievements of Wydad Fassi, especially as the club approaches its 80th anniversary.
