Historic Wins at the Throne Cup of Road Cycling

The Throne Cup of road cycling witnessed outstanding performances from Anass Aït El Abdia, representing the Champions Club of Marrakech, and Fatima-Zahra El Hayani, affiliated with the Agadir Mountain Biking Club. Both athletes clinched victory in the general individual categories during the first day of this prestigious sporting event, which spanned two days, August 1st and 2nd, in Agadir. The event commemorated the 27th anniversary of His Majesty King Mohammed VI's ascension to the throne, a significant occasion that added to the grandeur of the competition.

In the senior men's category, Anass Aït El Abdia, who was crowned the Moroccan champion in road cycling just last June in Sidi Allal El Bahraoui, showcased his exceptional skills by outperforming Driss El Alouani from the Agadir Mountain Biking Club, who took the second place, and Ibrahim Essabahy, who finished third. Meanwhile, in the senior women's category, the talented Fatima-Zahra El Hayani secured her title, leaving behind Salma Hariri from the Al Majd Sarghini Club and Islam Bekhibkhi from the Dcheira Agadir Club, who claimed the second and third spots, respectively.

Thriving Sporting Spirit and Competitive Excellence

The cycling events, held on a closed circuit near the Grand Stadium of Agadir, were marked by a high level of technical prowess and meticulous organization, which played a crucial role in the overall success of this national sporting event. It attracted a plethora of elite athletes representing various clubs and sports associations affiliated with the Royal Moroccan Cycling Federation. This strong turnout not only highlighted the competitive spirit of the participants but also reinforced Agadir's standing as a favored destination for hosting prominent national and international sporting events.

Looking ahead, the Throne Cup competitions will continue on Sunday with mountain biking events in the Olympic Cross-country discipline, taking place at the Aïn Skhouna complex in the Drargua municipality.
