Andalusia Enhances Green Hydrogen Collaboration with Morocco in Casablanca

Strengthening Economic Ties through Green Hydrogen Initiatives

The Spanish agency, Andalucía Trade, recently convened an economic meeting in Casablanca focused on the burgeoning sector of green hydrogen, in collaboration with the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce and the Andalusian Hydrogen Cluster. This initiative aims to reinforce the economic and institutional relationships between Andalusia and Morocco, particularly in a sector deemed crucial for both regions' energy transition and industrial advancement. The meeting attracted several Andalusian companies engaged in various aspects of the renewable hydrogen value chain, such as Cubicoff Ingeniería Abierta, Clan Hydrogen, and Evo Automotive, all hailing from Seville, along with Ariema from Huelva and Caldererías Indálicas from Almería. These companies participated in an intensive series of bilateral discussions with Moroccan institutions and operators, with the objective of identifying opportunities for collaboration, investment, and the development of joint projects. In total, 61 meetings were organized during this mission.

This initiative is integral to Andalucía Trade's strategy for international expansion, which seeks to establish the region as a prominent industrial and technological hub for the development of renewable hydrogen and clean energy solutions. Additionally, this strategy is designed to attract investment and enhance cooperative efforts with strategic international partners. Key discussions during the meetings included an assessment of the current landscape of Morocco's green hydrogen market, focusing on the national strategic framework, energy infrastructure, and the integration of renewable energy sources.

Exploring Collaborative Opportunities and Innovations

Representatives from Andalucía Trade, the Andalusian Hydrogen Cluster, and the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Casablanca participated actively in these discussions. Andalusian companies showcased their technological capabilities and industrial solutions, paving the way for meaningful exchanges with Moroccan counterparts. This exchange of expertise is anticipated to lead to fruitful bilateral business-to-business meetings between enterprises and institutions from both regions. The mission also featured a visit to the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Benguerir, recognized as one of Africa's leading research and innovation centers in green hydrogen and Power-to-X technologies. During this visit, the Andalusian delegation was informed about ongoing scientific projects and the potential for academic and technical partnerships in the field.
