Appointment of the Coadjutor Archbishop of Rabat, Morocco
The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Mario León Dorado, O.M.I., as the Coadjutor Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Rabat, Morocco. Prior to this appointment, he served as the Apostolic Prefect of Western Sahara.
Born on March 16, 1974, in Madrid, Spain, His Excellency Monsignor Mario León Dorado initially pursued studies in computer science at the Faculty of Computer Sciences in Madrid before earning a Bachelor’s degree in Theology from the San Dámaso Faculty of Theology in Madrid. He took his first religious vows on September 15, 1996, in the Congregation of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate and was ordained a priest on June 2, 2001.
His pastoral career includes significant roles such as Assistant Parish Priest in Jaén, Spain (2000-2004), and a mission assignment in the Apostolic Prefecture of Western Sahara from 2004. He subsequently served as the Apostolic Administrator from 2009 to 2013. Since 2013, he has held the position of Apostolic Prefect of Western Sahara, and as of 2026, he has also been the Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Rabat.
Appointment of Referendarii of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura
The Holy Father has also appointed several Referendarii to the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura. These include Reverend Monsignor Matteo Visioli, a Professor at the Faculty of Canon Law at the Collegium Maximum of the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, Italy; Reverend Priests Davide Cito and Massimo Del Pozzo, both Ordinary Professors at the Faculty of Canon Law at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome; Reverend Markus Graulich, S.D.B., Under-Secretary of the Dicastery for Legislative Texts; and Reverend Father Damián Guillermo Astigueta, S.I., Dean of the Faculty of Canon Law at the Collegium Maximum of the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.
