Arrest of Suspect in Fes for Luring Minor Through Facebook
In a concerning incident that underscores the dangers of online interactions, a young man has been arrested in Fes, Morocco, on suspicion of luring a minor through Facebook and subsequently assaulting her in a secluded area. According to reports, the victim, a teenage girl under the age of 18, had met the suspect in September 2025 on the social media platform, leading to direct communication and occasional meetings between them.
The suspect allegedly lured the victim to an isolated location near the Al-Ghorba cemetery in the Belkhayat neighborhood, adjacent to the Mohammed Darwish middle school, on February 25, 2026. It is claimed that during this encounter, as reported by the girl's mother in a formal complaint, the victim was physically assaulted and threatened.
Following the filing of the complaint, local law enforcement initiated an investigation that led to the identification and arrest of the suspect. He has since been presented to the public prosecutor at the Court of Appeals in Fes. The prosecutor's office has decided to refer the accused to the criminal court, with a hearing scheduled for March 12, 2026, as part of the ongoing judicial process.
