Arrest of Suspect in Marrakech Murder Case
On July 13, 2026, law enforcement officials from the criminal police department in Marrakech, in collaboration with their counterparts in Settat and based on precise information provided by the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance, successfully apprehended a suspect linked to a fatal assault. The suspect, originating from a Sub-Saharan African country, is believed to be involved in a case concerning assault leading to death.
Preliminary investigation details reveal that the suspect engaged in a dispute with the victim, who is also African, inside a construction site in Marrakech. The reasons for this confrontation are still under investigation. The altercation escalated into a physical attack during which the suspect delivered a fatal blow to the victim, resulting in the latter's immediate death at the scene.
Subsequent field investigations conducted by the security services enabled them to identify the suspect. Following this identification, an operation was executed that led to the suspect's arrest in Settat, thanks to coordination between the law enforcement agencies of both cities. The arrested individual is currently under police custody while the judicial investigation is ongoing, overseen by the competent public prosecutor's office, to uncover all circumstances and details surrounding the case.
