Audrey Werro Dominates at Diamond League in Rabat, Moser Secures Podium Finish

Audrey Werro's Impressive Victory

In a thrilling display of athletic prowess, Audrey Werro delivered an exceptional performance at the Diamond League event held in Rabat, Morocco. The Swiss middle-distance runner, who had already marked her presence with a silver medal at the World Indoor Championships two months prior, continued her winning streak by clinching her second Diamond League victory. This latest triumph came in the women's 800 meters, where she showcased her speed and strategy against a competitive field. Werro's race was a masterclass in pacing; after initially positioning herself behind the pacemaker, she took control in the second lap and quickly opened a significant gap. Crossing the finish line with a remarkable time of 1:56.56, she not only set a new season best but also broke the meeting record, finishing 0.68 seconds ahead of Ethiopia's Tsige Duguma, who secured second place.

Angelica Moser Shines in Pole Vault

In addition to Werro's success, fellow Swiss athlete Angelica Moser also left her mark at the event by achieving a commendable third-place finish in the women's pole vault. Moser cleared a height of 4.70 meters with her second attempt, establishing a new season's best for herself. Although she faced challenges at the 4.80-meter mark, where she failed to make the height on three occasions, her performance was enough to tie for third place with American Katie Moon. Moser’s strong start to the Diamond League season bodes well for her future competitions, with Australian Nina Kennedy winning the event by successfully vaulting 4.80 meters. The competition was fierce, but Moser's resilience and determination shone through, marking her as an athlete to watch in the upcoming meets.

Other notable performances included world champion Ditaji Kambundji, who finished sixth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 12.66 seconds, slightly slower than her recent Shanghai performance. In the 100 meters, Ajla del Ponte faced tough competition and finished last, while her compatriot Léonie Pointet outperformed her in the 200 meters, indicating the growing talent pool within Swiss athletics. The event was a significant showcase for Swiss athletes, particularly as they prepare for future competitions.
