Breaking Barriers: Aural Hearing Centers at the Titan Desert 2026
Aural Hearing Centers has embarked on a remarkable journey to Morocco to participate in the Skoda Titan Desert 2026, which takes place from April 26 to May 1. Leading the charge is the company's CEO, Juan Ignacio Martínez, alongside former cyclist Luis Pasamontes and a dedicated team of 37 cyclists. This event is recognized as one of the most challenging mountain biking competitions globally, attracting athletes from various backgrounds and nationalities. The common goal among the participants is to dismantle the stigma associated with untreated hearing loss, showcasing resilience, navigation skills, and personal growth, thereby drawing a compelling parallel between high-performance sports and daily life while living with hearing impairment.
Empowering Voices: Personal Stories of Triumph
As integral ambassadors of this vital message, the Aural team includes cyclists who have personal experiences related to hearing health. Their participation serves as a powerful social platform to highlight stories of perseverance, such as that of Adrià Alonso, who faces bilateral hearing loss and is competing in his second Titan event with Aural. Other notable members include Juan Manuel González Valente, an Olympic deaf athlete also participating for the second time; Jon Altube, who is facing his second Titan challenge while being the father of a child with hearing loss; and Roc Pagès, the youngest participant, who was born with hearing impairment and is making his debut in the team and the Titan this year, alongside Asensio Romero, a patient of Aural dealing with tinnitus.
They collectively embody the slogan 'let hearing loss not limit you,' delivering a clear message to individuals beginning to experience hearing issues: timely treatment is crucial, and hearing loss should not dictate the quality of one's life. This year, the team is further strengthened by Luis Pasamontes, a former cyclist from the Movistar Team, who will achieve the status of Titan Legend in this edition—a prestigious title awarded to cyclists who have completed at least 3,500 kilometers in the Titan World Series events organized by RPM Sports. Pasamontes expressed, "The Titan Desert is a unique experience that demands everything from you. Becoming a Titan Legend with Aural Hearing Centers is particularly meaningful because you are part of a purposeful project where sport also serves to help others."
Aural Hearing Centers’ participation is driven by a dual motivation: the sports challenge and a deep commitment to raising awareness and normalizing hearing loss. By taking part in a rigorous competition like the Skoda Titan Desert, the organization aims to demonstrate that caring for one’s hearing is essential for maintaining an active lifestyle and that hearing impairment does not hinder the ability to face significant challenges, whether personal or athletic. Juan Ignacio Martínez emphasized, "We want to leverage a platform like the Skoda Titan Desert to convey an important message: hearing loss should not restrict people’s lives or their capacity to take on challenges. Our presence here combines a sporting component with a clear mission of awareness and real social impact."
Moreover, Aural Hearing Centers is continuing its 'Back to Hearing to Live Again' initiative for the third consecutive year, as part of the Titan Life program promoted by RPM Sports. Through their solidarity truck, a team comprising two audiologists from Aural and an otolaryngologist from the prestigious IOGI institute will carry out hearing health outreach and awareness actions directed at local communities with limited access to such services, thereby enhancing their quality of life. This initiative has become a cornerstone of Aural's participation in the Skoda Titan Desert, merging the sports challenge with direct humanitarian intervention that reinforces the event's social impact.
In the current edition, the communicator and humanitarian María de León, who also experiences hearing loss and has been a patient at Aural for over ten years, will join the team at the conclusion of the race to record an episode of Aural's video podcast, 'Life Sounds Good,' which discusses well-being and hearing health. "Hearing loss can isolate you and lead to a severe sense of loneliness, but the good news is that solutions exist. I want to encourage those in need to take the step, to overcome fear and stigma," María de León stated. Her presence reinforces the message that hearing health should not be hidden and that using hearing aids is fully compatible with an active lifestyle, significant sports challenges, and complete social integration. Ultimately, the team's goal in the Moroccan desert is clear: to highlight that hearing loss should not limit individuals.
