Authorities Crack Down on Illicit Pharmaceutical Trade
In a significant operation, law enforcement agencies in Marrakech apprehended two individuals, both aged 58, suspected of involvement in the possession and distribution of contraband pharmaceutical products. These substances are believed to pose a serious risk to public health. The operation unfolded during a routine security intervention, leading to the suspects being caught red-handed with these illicit products. Following their arrest, the authorities initiated legal proceedings and launched an investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding this case.
The search conducted in connection with this operation resulted in the seizure of a staggering 5,620 units of smuggled medical pills. Among the confiscated items were various pharmaceutical products intended for multiple uses, specifically those aimed at promoting weight gain and enhancing sexual stimulation. The detained individuals are currently under police custody, with the investigation being overseen by the competent public prosecutor’s office. The aim is to trace the source of these seized items, determine how they entered the market, and unveil the routes they took before reaching the consumers. Additionally, authorities are working to ascertain whether other individuals may be involved in this illicit activity.
