Aya Gold & Silver Bolsters Its Mining Ventures in Morocco

Canadian mining enterprise Aya Gold & Silver has unveiled a significant milestone in its expansion efforts by acquiring a strategic portfolio that encompasses three mining licenses and 18 exploration permits, collectively spanning approximately 259.1 square kilometers. This acquisition strategically enhances the company’s exploration footprint surrounding its established assets, including the well-regarded Zgounder silver mine, while simultaneously broadening its exposure to a diverse array of precious, base, and critical metals.

The newly integrated Zagora project, which covers an impressive 158.6 square kilometers through a total of 11 exploration permits, has been identified as having promising potential for nickel, cobalt, lead, zinc, silver, and gold mineralization. In parallel, the Agadir-Melloul project comprises three mining licenses along with five exploration permits, covering 68.5 square kilometers and recognized for its prospects in copper, silver, gold, and rare earth elements. Additionally, the Goulmim project consists of two exploration permits that span 32 square kilometers and is believed to hold significant potential for mineralization of lead, silver, copper, and gold.

Strategic Growth and Future Exploration Plans

Benoit La Salle, President and CEO of Aya Gold & Silver, emphasized that this acquisition represents a pivotal advancement in the company’s long-term exploration strategy within Morocco. La Salle remarked, “This acquisition reinforces Aya’s first-mover advantage in Morocco and advances our strategy of building one of the largest exploration portfolios in the country.” He further elaborated on the company’s impressive growth, stating that in 2026 alone, Aya has expanded its land holdings from approximately 732 square kilometers to over 991 square kilometers, marking a substantial increase of 35.4%.

In light of these developments, Aya Gold & Silver is poised to launch a phased greenfield exploration program over the next 18 to 24 months aimed at assessing the discovery potential of its newly acquired properties. The initial phase of this program will entail stream sediment geochemistry, high-resolution hyperspectral surveys, geological mapping, and prospecting, followed by an evaluation of the necessity for geophysical surveys and drilling operations. This comprehensive approach underscores the company's commitment to unlocking future discoveries and fostering its next phase of sustainable growth in the dynamic mining landscape of Morocco.
