The 46th Chess Olympiad in Samarkand has successfully completed its third round, showcasing remarkable performances from the Azerbaijani teams. As reported by azertag.az, the Azerbaijani men's team triumphed over Switzerland with a convincing score of 3:1. Key victories were secured by Shakhriyar Mamedyaro and Aydin Suleymanli, while teammates Rauf Mamedov and Mahammad Muradli managed to settle for draws in their respective matches.
In parallel, the Azerbaijani women's team achieved a narrow victory against Sweden, ending the match with a score of 2.5:1.5. Gulnar Mammadova distinguished herself by winning her match, while Ulviyya Fataliyeva, Gunay Mammadzada, and Govhar Beydullayeva each contributed with draws, ensuring the team's overall success.
Prior to these matches, the men's team secured an impressive 4:0 win over Morocco and a 3:1 victory against the Philippines. The women's team also displayed dominance by winning both of their previous matches against Guatemala and Denmark with identical scores of 4:0. The Chess Olympiad, conducted under the Swiss system, consists of a total of eleven rounds and is scheduled to conclude on September 27. A remarkable total of 1,032 chess players are participating, representing 208 teams from around the globe.
