Beef Prices Surge in Casablanca Amid Mixed Market Trends

This week, the wholesale market in Casablanca is witnessing contrasting trends for meats, vegetables, and fruits. According to data released by Casablanca Prestations, the minimum price of beef has increased, while lamb prices continue to decline.

For beef, the minimum price has jumped from 75 DH/kg to 79 DH/kg, whereas the maximum price remains unchanged at 108 DH/kg. Consequently, the price range for beef now stands between 79 and 108 DH/kg, compared to the previous range of 75 to 108 DH/kg.

Vegetables and Fruit Prices: A Mixed Bag

In contrast, the price of lamb meat is experiencing a downward trend. The minimum price for lamb has decreased from 120 DH/kg to 110 DH/kg, while the maximum price has fallen from 125 DH/kg to 118 DH/kg.

Turning to vegetables, several products have seen price increases. For instance, the price of tomatoes has risen from a range of 2-5.5 DH/kg to 2.5-6.5 DH/kg. Zucchini has also seen its maximum price reach 9 DH/kg, up from 8 DH previously. Eggplant prices are now between 3 and 6 DH/kg, compared to the previous range of 2.5 to 5.5 DH/kg. Carrots have also experienced a slight increase in their maximum price, now set at 3.5 DH/kg, while squash has seen a minor decrease to a maximum of 5.5 DH/kg.

On the fruit front, the trends are more negative, with avocados dropping from a price range of 18-28 DH/kg to 15-25 DH/kg. Additionally, prices for pomegranates, oranges, and clementines have also declined. However, key fruit staples such as bananas, grapes, and apples have remained relatively stable in price.
