Benkirane's Unwavering Position on Normalization
Abdelilah Benkirane, the Secretary-General of the Justice and Development Party (PJD), made a significant appearance in the city of Fes, where he addressed the final festival of the tenth edition of the open doors event organized by the party's regional office. This gathering took place at the Al-Quds Youth House on Palestine Street in the Agdal district, showcasing an impressive organizational atmosphere and notable party attendance.
In an exclusive interview with Maghreb Times, Benkirane was asked about his party's stance on normalization. He emphatically stated that the Justice and Development Party is "against normalization," reiterating that this position is "firm and unchanged." This assertion reflects the party's consistent approach to the normalization issue within the national political landscape.
When questioned about the party's prospects in the upcoming electoral challenges and whether they intend to lead the government, Benkirane conveyed that the party does not have a definitive vision regarding the outcomes of the forthcoming period. He famously remarked, "Only God knows what will happen next." He also touched upon the possibility of the party opting for opposition, even in the event of a positive electoral outcome, indicating that, "We do not know, and we will see about these matters later," suggesting that all scenarios remain open and undetermined.
The meeting witnessed the presence of several party leaders, including Idriss Azmi, the Deputy Secretary-General and former president of the Fes municipality, alongside Adil Saghir, the national secretary of the party's youth organization, and Souad Bousef, the head of the women's organization. They discussed various organizational and political issues related to the party's operations at both local and national levels.
Fes, with its symbolic atmosphere and rich political history, continues to play a significant role in the political landscape of Morocco, particularly as the party navigates through these uncertain times.
