Booder Returns to Morocco with His New Show Addressing School and Bullying

Booder's Third One-Man Show in Morocco

The celebrated Franco-Moroccan comedian Booder has taken the stage once more to present his third one-man show, captivating audiences in Casablanca and Marrakech. This latest performance, titled "Ah… l’école!" (Ah… School!), is not just a comedic display; it is a thoughtful exploration of the educational system intertwined with the serious issue of bullying. Booder's unique ability to blend humor with introspection allows him to connect deeply with his audience, whom he affectionately regards as family.

After an impressive twenty-five years in the entertainment industry, Booder returns to his homeland for three exclusive performances. His tour kicked off at the Megarama in Casablanca on April 29 and 30, and it will continue at the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech on May 1. As a native of Bouarfa, Booder skillfully tailors his material to resonate with the Moroccan audience by incorporating elements of darija, the local dialect. In a candid interview with _Les Ecos_, he expresses the significance of his performances in Morocco, stating, "When I play in Morocco, I feel like I am performing in front of my family. Therefore, I must surprise them."

A Deep Dive into Educational Themes

In "Ah… l’école!", Booder delves into personal anecdotes from his own schooling experiences, sharing reflections on his son’s journey, interactions with teachers, and the race for academic excellence. His thematic choice aims to bridge generational gaps, appealing to parents and children alike. Moreover, he tackles sensitive subjects such as bullying with his characteristic self-deprecation, reinforcing the idea that education must evolve to meet the demands of contemporary society. He articulates his vision succinctly: "I believe that schools should adapt to the world we now live in."

This project exemplifies Booder’s commitment to maintaining a delicate balance between laughter and emotional resonance. Renowned for his roles in French comedic cinema, he highlights a fundamental distinction between film and live performances: "In cinema, once the film is shot, it no longer belongs to us; we cannot alter it. Live performances, however, are dynamic and interactive," he explains. This direct engagement with the audience fuels his frequent return to the stage, a realm where spontaneity thrives.
