Rachel Kerr Rescued After Five Days Missing in Morocco
Rachel Kerr, a 31-year-old British influencer known on social media as Rachel Gourlay, has been located safe and sound five days after her disappearance from a nightclub in Morocco. What began as a routine work trip turned into a significant search operation after her family lost contact with her, prompting them to alert the authorities. The search concluded positively on April 30, when she was found alive.
The alarming situation began on April 25, when Kerr, hailing from Alloa, Scotland, was last seen leaving the Caribbean Village resort in Agadir, a three-star all-inclusive hotel. She had been out partying the night before and was reported to have been unreachable since checking out, as her phone was found to be turned off.
Concern grew among her family, particularly her cousin Claire Hill, who stated that Kerr's lack of communication was highly unusual and had them on edge for days. To aid in locating her, the family issued a public appeal for help, providing contact information in English, French, and Arabic.
As the investigation unfolded, a spokesperson from the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office confirmed that they were assisting Kerr's family. A friend of Kerr, Alexis Shaw, shared additional insights, revealing that Kerr had run out of money just before her disappearance. Shaw noted that Kerr had intended to return home two weeks prior, indicating that she might have extended her stay in Morocco, as she continued to post updates on social media from various locations in the country.
Fortunately, as reported by BBC on the same day, Rachel was found unharmed and is currently under the care of her brother. The family expressed their relief at her safe return, bringing an end to the distressing episode.
