British National Arrested at Casablanca Airport on International Drug Trafficking Charges

On Saturday, April 11, officials from the National Security at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca apprehended a 34-year-old British national, who was subject to an international arrest warrant issued by Belgian judicial authorities. The suspect was arrested as he was about to depart for Dubai, highlighting the vigilance of Moroccan security forces at key travel hubs.

Upon verification of his identity against the databases maintained by the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), it became evident that he was wanted internationally at the request of Belgian authorities. His alleged involvement in the formation of a criminal network engaged in international drug trafficking and the trade of psychotropic substances prompted the issuance of the arrest warrant.

The suspect is now undergoing the necessary extradition procedures as mandated by the relevant prosecution. The Interpol National Central Bureau in Rabat, which operates under the DGSN, has been tasked with notifying its counterpart in Belgium about this arrest as part of the extradition process.

This operation is part of Morocco's ongoing commitment to enhance international cooperation and to pursue individuals wanted in connection with criminal activities, especially drug-related offenses. The Moroccan security services have been actively dismantling several drug networks across various cities, showcasing their determination to combat drug trafficking and uphold public safety.
