Bubba Watson Embraces New Challenges at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam

Bubba Watson's Exciting Debut at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam

Two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson is set to make his debut at the prestigious Royal Golf Dar Es Salam during the International Series Morocco, presented by Visit Morocco. Arriving with renewed vigor from his strongest performance of the season, Watson is not only focused on competitive success but is also eager to immerse himself in the rich culture of golf course design. The captain of the RangeGoats Golf Club sees this opportunity as a chance to explore a new golfing landscape, while simultaneously nurturing his ambition to potentially design his own golf course in the future.

Watson’s recent top-10 finish at LIV Golf Andalucía serves as a confidence booster as he heads to Rabat, where he will be part of a world-class field competing at this iconic venue. The Royal Golf Dar Es Salam, renowned for its exceptional layout, was honored as the Asian Tour's Players' Choice Course of the Year in 2025, further igniting Watson’s enthusiasm for golf course architecture. His journey into the world of golf design began with his first appearance in the International Series at the BNI Indonesian Masters in 2024, where he played at the Royale Jakarta Golf Club—a venue that left a significant mark on his appreciation of golf course aesthetics.

In reflecting on his travels and experiences, Watson shared, "It's fun seeing a new part of the world. I love taking in the architecture and learning from it. I enjoy seeing new landscapes and trying to understand the thinking behind the golf course design. It's fun playing golf courses you've never seen before, learning from them, and maybe one day using that creativity if I build my own course." This passion for understanding course design is complemented by his desire to absorb the unique cultural elements of each location he visits.

Despite the demanding schedule that comes with competing in LIV Golf, Watson has prioritized family time and recovery during his initial days in Morocco. He noted, "I have not played the course yet, but I knew we were going to play 18 holes today, so I just rested. I'm getting old, so I was resting. I took my kids to the zoo yesterday, so we've just had some fun the last couple of days in a new country." Watson’s commitment to balancing competition with family life reflects his holistic approach to the sport and life beyond it.

As he prepares to face new challenges at this remarkable venue, Watson’s journey exemplifies the spirit of exploration and growth that defines the sport of golf. His experiences not only enhance his competitive edge but also enrich his understanding of the game's architectural nuances, paving the way for a future that may include creating his own golf course.
