CAF Unveils Dates for the Historic AFCON PAMOJA 2027 Co-Hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda

Exciting Announcement for AFCON PAMOJA 2027

The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has made a momentous announcement regarding the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) PAMOJA 2027, which will be co-hosted by the vibrant nations of Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. This historic tournament is set to kick off with the Opening Match on Saturday, June 19, 2027, and the grand Final scheduled for Saturday, July 17, 2027. These pivotal dates have recently received approval from the FIFA Council during a meeting in Vancouver, Canada, with CAF promising to reveal the specific locations for both the Opening Match and the Final in due course.

The Road to the Tournament: Qualification Process

The TotalEnergies CAF AFCON PAMOJA 2027 not only marks a significant milestone as the first-ever AFCON to be hosted by three nations but also presents a unique opportunity to engage over 400 million people across the East African region. Following the completion of the Preliminary round, the journey towards this monumental tournament continues with the Draw for the Qualifiers scheduled for May 19, 2026. A total of 48 teams, including the three co-hosts, will participate in this qualification phase. The Draw will chart the course for these teams as they vie for a spot in the Final Tournament of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations PAMOJA 2027.

The qualification matches will unfold across three FIFA International Windows, with the 48 teams organized into 12 groups of four. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Final Tournament. This upcoming edition of the AFCON is particularly significant as it marks the competition's return to the East African region for the first time since Ethiopia hosted the tournament in 1976. Building on the success of previous editions, including the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON Morocco 2025 and the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON Côte d’Ivoire 2023, which saw record commercial revenues, sponsorship growth, and an expanding global broadcast audience, the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON PAMOJA 2027 promises to enhance the international stature and appeal of African football.
