Canadian Mining Initiative Set to Begin Near Marrakech

On September 25, 2026, the Canadian firm Stellar Africa Gold announced the commencement of a significant gold drilling project in the eastern Tichka region, located south of Marrakech. This initiative marks a new phase in the exploration of gold resources in the area, with plans to drill a total of 24 wells, reaching depths that exceed 5,000 meters. The Moroccan company CMFM will oversee the field operations, which include drilling ten wells in Zone B, with a total depth of 1,995 meters, and nine wells in Zone C, reaching up to 2,055 meters. Additionally, five exploratory wells are set to be drilled at approximately 950 meters.

The foundation of this new phase is built upon the previous drilling results, which involved 11 wells. Notably, well TCK-001 recorded a concentration of 6.62 grams of gold per ton over a stretch of 12 meters. The current plan also involves the excavation of seven trenches and a drone-based magnetic survey spanning 144 kilometers.

The project extends over an area of 82 square kilometers, situated about 80 kilometers southwest of Marrakech. It is being developed in partnership with the National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines, with the potential for the Canadian company to increase its stake to 85% following an investment of $2.39 million over three years.
