He highlighted that addressing the state of Casablanca is tantamount to addressing the economic capital of the Kingdom at large, which is responsible for generating approximately 32.7% of national wealth. The city hosts a plethora of major Moroccan and international corporations, banks, industrial zones, and economic decision-making hubs, making its success integral to the overall development narrative of Morocco.
Despite its significance, El Fenn pointed out that Casablanca faces formidable challenges in critical areas such as transportation, urban mobility, education, healthcare, employment, housing, and overall quality of life. He stressed that the trajectory of national development is intricately linked to the effective resolution of these challenges. Furthermore, he addressed misconceptions regarding local governance, clarifying that many citizens mistakenly believe that all developmental projects fall under municipal jurisdiction when, in reality, responsibilities are shared across multiple institutions.
