Morocco has solidified its status in the African aviation landscape, showcasing a remarkable achievement as two of its major airports, Casablanca and Marrakech, have been ranked among the top ten airports on the continent by passenger seat capacity. This data, released by the African Airlines Association (AFRAA) in September 2026, highlights the growing significance of Morocco in enhancing air connectivity throughout Africa.
Notably, Morocco stands out as the only country in Africa to host two airports within this prestigious top ten list. According to the ranking, Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca claims the fourth position with a capacity of 803,579 seats, while Marrakech-Menara Airport secures the tenth spot with 480,112 seats. The overall ranking is led by Cairo International Airport, which boasts a staggering capacity of 1,850,926 seats, followed by Addis Ababa with 1,251,909 seats, and Johannesburg with 1,148,652 seats.
