Celebrating Japanese Culture in Casablanca
On April 25, 2026, the cultural program 'Morocco: Land of Cultures' marked its fourth edition in Casablanca, organized by the Collectif 4.0 in collaboration with the Mada Foundation. This year's theme, 'Manga F'lmdina,' invited Moroccan families on an extraordinary journey to celebrate Japanese culture through an immersive experience that blended creativity, entertainment, and cultural openness. The event was designed to offer a true interactive experience, with various accessible spaces inviting families to explore Japanese culture in a fun, creative, and participatory manner.
The initiative aimed to provide a vibrant experience at the heart of Japanese culture through some of the most popular and impactful forms of expression. This occasion transformed into a knowledge gateway, allowing attendees of all ages to discover a rich, interactive global culture in a family-friendly atmosphere. Layla Oudghiri, a founding member of Collectif 4.0, explained that the program highlights Japanese culture through a series of activities, including 'Manga F'lmdina.' She emphasized that this immersive experience showcases Japanese culture through creative and popular forms of expression, where manga, art, and games become portals to explore a rich global culture that is accessible to everyone.
According to Oudghiri, the experience crafted for families at the outdoor space of the Dar el Fan in the economic capital was designed for both children and adults, encouraging exploration and immersion into a new world of imagination. The reading space featured a curated selection of manga for browsing, allowing both children and adults to explore different worlds. Visitors could also engage with Japanese games, watch martial arts demonstrations, and meet cosplay enthusiasts for a more immersive experience.
Aymaan Oukhira, responsible for the origami and calligraphy workshops, noted that this event presented an opportunity for participants to learn about traditional Japanese arts through workshops in origami and calligraphy, expressing their creativity through manga drawing, coloring, and crafts. He added that the workshop was designed to be a true exchange platform, inviting children and their families to bring their manga for sharing with others, enabling everyone to discover new stories in a fun and engaging way that encourages participation and storytelling.
Collectif 4.0, which initiated this project, is a studio specializing in designing and producing cultural experiences and events aimed at creating projects that unite the audience and foster shared experiences across generations. Notably, this monthly cultural event is held on the last Saturday of each month at the Dar el Fan in Casablanca until June 2026. The program is specifically tailored for families to introduce Moroccan professions and culture through interactive and educational workshops that encourage the transmission and discovery of heritage.
