Casablanca Stock Exchange Experiences Decline

On Friday, March 13, 2026, the Casablanca Stock Exchange concluded the trading day in negative territory, with its primary index, the MASI, declining by 1.76% to close at 16,855.82 points. This downturn was reflective of a broader trend across various indices, including the MASI 20, which encompasses the 20 most liquid stocks, falling by 1.85% to 1,285.71 points. Additionally, the MASI ESG index, which tracks companies with the highest ESG ratings as assessed by Moody's ESG Solutions, dropped by 1.59% to 1,161.6 points.

The MASI Mid and Small Cap index, indicative of the performance of small and medium-sized enterprises, also recorded a decrease, falling by 1.61% to 1,708.14 points. On the international front, the FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index and the FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid indices closed with respective losses of 1.46% at 15,738.54 points and 1.73% at 14,407.67 points.

Sector Performance Highlights

Sector-wise, the most significant declines were observed in the pharmaceutical industry (-6.3%), electricity sector (-5.33%), and financial services and other activities (-4.04%). Conversely, the forestry and paper sectors demonstrated resilience, with increases of 2.86%, while the agri-food production sector rose by 1.42%, and holdings companies improved by 1.06%.

Trading volumes exceeded 976.33 million dirhams, predominantly occurring on the central equity market. The top transactions were led by SGTM with 350.34 million dirhams, followed by Attijariwafa Bank at 118.23 million dirhams and TGCC at 64.82 million dirhams. The total market capitalization was recorded at over 944.07 billion dirhams.

Looking at individual stocks, the most significant declines were noted for Disway, which fell by 9.82% to 744 dirhams, followed by Sothema (-6.77% to 1,555 dirhams), and BMCI (-6.56% to 570 dirhams). In contrast, Lesieur Cristal saw a notable increase of 5.43% to 369 dirhams, with Med Paper rising by 2.86% to 25.2 dirhams, and Jet Contractors climbing by 1.86% to 2,139 dirhams.
