The MASI 20, which tracks the 20 most liquid stocks, fell by 0.28%, settling at 1,358.68 points, while the MASI ESG, which focuses on companies with high environmental, social, and governance ratings as assessed by Moody's ESG Solutions, decreased by 0.87% to 1,409.94 points. Furthermore, the MASI Mid and Small Cap index, a barometer for small and medium-sized enterprises, declined slightly by 0.07%, ending at 1,815.12 points.
On a sectoral basis, the most significant losses were seen in the forestry and paper sector, which dropped by 2.61%, followed by the mining sector at a decline of 1.98%, and the financial services sector, which fell by 1.74%. Conversely, the agricultural industry sector showed resilience, gaining 2.5%, while the electricity and industrial engineering sectors each recorded modest increases of 1.11%.
The trading volume for the day exceeded 580.1 million dirhams, largely driven by transactions on the central market, with notable activity surrounding Attijariwafa Bank, which accounted for 288.84 million dirhams, followed by Managem at 63.32 million dirhams and Itissalat Al-Maghrib at 39.72 million dirhams. The overall market capitalization stood at over 1,118.19 billion dirhams.
Among individual stocks, Rebab Company experienced the steepest decline at 4.76%, closing at 100 dirhams, while Cash Plus S.A. and Fenie Brossette saw decreases of 3.43% and 3.23%, respectively. In contrast, Promopharm S.A. led the gainers with a remarkable increase of 5.97%, closing at 1,296 dirhams. Other notable gainers included Maghrebail, Involys, Zellidja S.A., and Aluminium du Maroc, each posting substantial gains.
