The Casablanca Stock Exchange experienced a downward trend on Tuesday, with its main index, the MASI, declining by 1% to close at 18,263.97 points. This decline was mirrored in the MASI 20, which tracks the 20 most liquid stocks, falling 0.83% to 1,320.44 points. Additionally, the MASI ESG, which reflects companies with the best ESG ratings according to Moody’s ESG Solutions, dropped by 1.18% to settle at 1,306.78 points. In a similar vein, the MASI Mid and Small Cap index, which represents the performance of small and medium-sized enterprises, saw a more pronounced decrease of 1.62%, finishing at 1,882.44 points.
On the international front, both the FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index and the FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid concluded the session with losses of 1.35% to 17,170.8 points and 1.32% to 15,622.19 points, respectively. Sector-wise, the most significant declines were noted in the 'Engineering and Industrial Equipment' sector, which plummeted by 5.57%, followed by 'Mining' at -4.37%, and 'Holding Companies' at -3.31%. Conversely, sectors that performed well included 'Insurance' with a rise of 2.99%, 'Agricultural Industry' up by 1.55%, and 'Pharmaceutical Industry' gaining 1.11%.
Trading volume reached over 359.96 million dirhams, primarily concentrated in the central market (Equities). Notably, the highest transactions were recorded for Salafin (58.51 MDH), Attijariwafa Bank (42.29 MDH), and SMI (34.44 MDH). The market capitalization stood at over 1,050.79 billion dirhams.
Focusing on individual stocks, the most considerable losses were suffered by SMI, which fell by 9.99% to 8,865 DH, followed by Minière Touissit at -9.56% to 4,350 DH, Stroc Industrie down by 6.54% to 200 DH, Salafin at -5.99% to 450.1 DH, and Rebab Company at -5.95% to 90.25 DH. On the other hand, the top gainers included Promopharm, which rose by 5.9% to 1,346 DH, Wafa Assurance with a 5.36% increase to 5,900 DH, Fenie Brossette climbing 4.75% to 308.5 DH, S.M Monétique up by 4.46% to 386 DH, and Aluminium du Maroc gaining 2.85% to 1,950 DH.
