Casablanca Stock Exchange Sees Decline on Thursday
On Thursday, March 26, 2026, the Casablanca Stock Exchange concluded its trading session in negative territory, with its main index, the MASI, dropping by 0.84% to close at 17,443.33 points. Similarly, the MASI 20, which includes the 20 most liquid stocks, fell by 1.49% to 1,327.91 points, while the MASI ESG, which tracks companies with high ESG ratings as per Moody’s ESG Solutions, declined by 0.75% to 1,201.15 points. In contrast, the MASI Mid and Small Cap index, which reflects the performance of small and medium-sized enterprises, registered a modest increase of 0.53%, ending at 1,792.19 points.
Examining the international market, the FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index and the FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid both experienced losses, closing down 1.05% at 16,222.55 points and 0.89% at 14,853.29 points, respectively. Sector-wise, the most significant declines were noted in the "Oil and Gas" sector, which fell by 3.17%, followed by "Transportation Services" with a decline of 3.08%, and "Real Estate Investment Companies" down by 2.02%.
Conversely, sectors such as "Beverages," which saw a remarkable increase of 7.66%, "Materials, Software, and IT Services" rising by 3.92%, and "Mining" climbing by 3.35% stood out as the best performers of the day. Trading volumes surpassed 383.84 million dirhams, primarily driven by activity in the central market for equities, with notable transactions in HPS (40.88 million dirhams), Managem (38.23 million dirhams), and LafargeHolcim Maroc (32.23 million dirhams). The total market capitalization was recorded at over 975.91 billion dirhams.
In terms of individual stocks, the largest declines were observed in Involys, which plummeted by 9.97% to 141.35 dirhams, followed by AFMA down 5.99% to 1,114 dirhams, TotalEnergies Marketing Maroc decreasing by 5.3% to 1,500 dirhams, IB Maroc.com down 4.64% to 61.02 dirhams, and Bank of Africa declining by 4.54% to 208 dirhams. On the other hand, significant gains were recorded by Société des Boissons du Maroc, which surged 9.98% to 2,227 dirhams, Minière Touissit with an increase of 8.06% to 3,500 dirhams, Vicenne climbing 6.93% to 432 dirhams, HPS gaining 6.86% to 545 dirhams, and Promopharm rising 5.73% to 1,420 dirhams.
