Market Overview: MASI Experiences a Downturn

As the Casablanca Stock Exchange commenced the week, it did so against a backdrop of negative sentiment, primarily due to a resurgence of tensions in the Middle East. The Moroccan All Shares Index (MASI) registered a decline of 0.54%, closing at 18,347.19 points, which reflects a year-to-date downturn of 2.65%. Similarly, the MASI 20, which tracks the performance of the largest capitalizations on the exchange, fell by 1.49% to settle at 1,349.87 points, marking an annual performance decline of 9.14%. Trading activity on the central market remained moderate, with a total transaction volume of 685 million dirhams.

Managem's Strong Performance

Amidst this overall decline, Managem stood out as a significant performer of the day, demonstrating remarkable strength in the market. The company recorded an impressive trading volume of 366 million dirhams, closing with a substantial gain of 10% at 13,127 dirhams. This surge has propelled its year-to-date performance to an astonishing 105.11%, enabling Managem to become the leading market capitalization on the Casablanca Stock Exchange, now valued at 155.74 billion dirhams, surpassing Attijariwafa bank, which is at 150.59 billion dirhams. Following Managem, CMT observed trading worth 68 million dirhams, finishing slightly higher by 0.20% at 4,895 dirhams, while Addoha rounded out the top three with a trading volume of 31 million dirhams, experiencing a decline of 1.90% to close at 34.05 dirhams. On the upside, Salafin emerged as one of the session's best performers, gaining 5.99% and closing at 476.95 dirhams. Conversely, Wafa Assurance recorded the most significant drop of the day, plummeting by 6.28% to 5,000 dirhams. By the end of the session, the overall market capitalization stood at 1,049 billion dirhams.
