Casablanca's 10KM International Run Returns in 2026: A Sporting Milestone

The 2026 10KM International Run: A New Era for Casablanca

On May 17, 2026, Casablanca will embrace a significant chapter in its sporting history with the much-anticipated 10KM International by WeCasablanca. Building on the remarkable success of the previous year's event, which attracted over 12,000 runners from 52 different countries, the city is preparing to host an even larger gathering of approximately 15,000 participants. This event, which has established itself as a hallmark in African sports, underscores the city’s ambition to emerge as a global hub for urban sports.

Since its inception in 2017 with merely 1,100 participants, the 10KM International has experienced an extraordinary evolution. Initially part of the Casablanca Marathon, it has since grown into an independent event that has transformed a local initiative into a globally recognized competition. Today, with an officially certified course and an organizational rigor that meets international standards, the race draws an elite field of 200 top-tier athletes eager to showcase their talents in the economic capital of Morocco.

According to Mohamed Jouahri, the General Director of Casablanca Events & Animation, this growth is a testament to a well-integrated vision: "The 10KM International is no longer just an athletic event; it serves as a platform for showcasing Casablanca. Our goal is to solidify this synergy between organizational excellence and public enthusiasm, ensuring the city is permanently marked on the calendar of major global competitions while providing a vibrant event that reflects the dynamism and openness of our city."

Looking Back on 2025: A Foundation of Success

The 2025 edition left a lasting impression with its cosmopolitan nature and significant media impact. Featuring 540 international runners and garnering over 1.5 million digital impressions, the event has solidified its reputation on the global road racing circuit. The Race Village, which acts as the social heart of the event, attracted 25,000 visitors, demonstrating massive public engagement and highlighting the race's role as a catalyst for community cohesion.

As the 2026 edition approaches, the race will kick off at 8:30 AM from Boulevard Al Massira, following a certified route that connects key points in the city, showcasing the vibrancy of Boulevard d’Anfa and the scenic Corniche. This year’s course will be carefully supervised by more than 200 professional judges and 400 volunteers, serving as a showcase for the city. By aligning its standards with those of major international competitions, Casablanca is reaffirming its capability to host high-visibility mass events, placing sports at the forefront of its cultural identity.

With its growing reputation across the continent, the 10KM International by WeCasablanca transcends mere athletics, evolving into a pivotal sporting event that unites citizens and international observers around a modern and sustainable vision for the economic capital of Morocco.
