Construction Contracts Awarded for Casablanca's Future Railway Stations

The Casablanca Express Regional Network (RER) project has reached a significant milestone with the awarding of construction contracts for nine upcoming railway stations. The National Office of Railways (ONCF) has chosen the Moroccan company GIDNA SARL to undertake two contracts, amounting to a total of 470.72 million dirhams excluding taxes. This development marks a crucial step in enhancing the city's transportation infrastructure.

Details of the Awarded Contracts

The first contract, valued at 214.52 million dirhams, involves the construction of four stations: Mohammedia Facultés, Zenata Industrielle, Sidi Bernoussi, and Aïn Sebaâ. The second contract, amounting to 256.2 million dirhams, encompasses the development of five additional stations: Hay Mohammedia, Mers Sultan, Casa Oasis, Sidi Maârouf, and Nouaceur Nouvelle Ville. Notably, the final amounts awarded exceeded the ONCF's initial estimates, which were set at 180 million dirhams for the first contract and 220 million for the second. During the bidding process, two companies participated, with Urbagec submitting a bid for the first contract and GIDNA competing for both.

After a thorough evaluation of the administrative, technical, and financial submissions, GIDNA emerged as the preferred contractor for both projects, with a proposal deemed compliant and economically advantageous.

Founded in 2006, GIDNA, which stands for Global Infrastructure Development North Africa, is a Moroccan company specializing in construction and public works. With a capital of 25 million dirhams, GIDNA engages in various areas, including structural engineering, civil works, metal frameworks, and comprehensive construction services. The company boasts a portfolio of completed projects across multiple sectors, such as educational and healthcare facilities, hotels, residential buildings, factories, warehouses, logistics platforms, and data centers.

The awarding of these two contracts injects new momentum into the Casablanca RER project, which is expected to progressively enhance the railway transport capabilities within the urban area and improve connectivity between several urban and economic hubs in the metropolis.
