Municipal Abattoirs in Casablanca Prepare for Aïd Al-Adha 2026
As the celebration of Aïd Al-Adha approaches in 2026, the Casablanca Commune, alongside the local development company Casablanca Prestations, has announced a special initiative aimed at providing citizens with professional and secure slaughtering services. Following the suspension of operations last year due to the cancellation of the holiday, the municipal abattoirs in Casablanca are set to resume their services this year. A recent communiqué from Casablanca Prestations outlines the conditions under which the slaughtering and accommodation of sheep will take place, as well as the associated costs.
The statement emphasizes that the Casablanca Municipal Abattoirs will host animals designated for sacrifice in optimal hygiene and safety conditions. This initiative is particularly aimed at families who lack adequate space at home to perform the ritual in a controlled environment. All operations will be conducted by qualified teams, adhering to the standards set by relevant authorities, including compliance with ISO 22000:2018 and ISO 9001:2015, as well as Halal certification.
Details on Accommodation and Pricing
In addition to slaughtering services, the abattoirs will also offer accommodation for the animals up to 48 hours before the day of Aïd, specifically on May 25 and 26. Casablanca Prestations assures that suitable, secure, and designed facilities will be in place to ensure the animals' well-being and biological rest prior to the sacrifice. Regarding pricing, the local development company has confirmed that the rates will remain unchanged from the last similar operation, which took place two years ago. The costs are set at 240 dirhams (inclusive of tax) for slaughtering and 24 dirhams (inclusive of tax) per night for accommodation. This stable pricing strategy aims to maintain the accessibility of services for all citizens.
Furthermore, the Casablanca Commune and Casablanca Prestations stress the importance of adhering to hygiene and sanitation protocols, particularly concerning waste management and the preservation of the urban environment. However, it is noted that the Aïd Al-Adha 2026 operations will be conducted within the limits of available capacities.
